Transfer Student Checklist

  1. Fill out and submit your FAFSA (Federal Application for Student Aid) –

  2. Explore scholarships you might qualify for

  3. Make sure you have health insurance –
    studentinsurance.fsu.edu
    (note that health insurance purchased through FSU may be eligible for VA reimbursement) 
              
  4. Complete the required forms at veterans.fsu.edu:
    • Request for Benefits form (if you qualify for and plan to receive VA Education Benefits)
    • Self-identified Veteran Form (if you do not qualify for or do not plan to use VA Education Benefits)
    • Out-of-State Tuition Waiver Form (if you are not a Florida resident)      
          
  5.  Be aware that FSU has Veteran Liaisons in administrative and academic units throughout campus to assist you –

  6. Register for the Veterans Success Course (SLS 3407), which provides strategies and tactics for succeeding at a large research university like FSU; course may be taken in the Fall or Spring for zero credit hours or one credit hour; register through the my.fsu.edu portal      
         
  7. Know that free academic tutoring is available through both the FSU Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) – ace.fsu.edu/tutoring – and Libraries—lib.fsu.edu/tutoring-information
