Fostering and enhancing relationships between military veterans who graduated from Florida State is the primary mission of the Veterans Alumni Network (VAN).
By honoring and saluting their military service, offering support in their careers, and providing mentorship to current student veterans, the Veterans Alumni Network elevates the recognition, development, networking, and advocacy of Florida State veterans.
VAN initiatives focus on strengthening bonds, professional and personal growth, and access to useful resources for veterans who are part of the university community.
In addition to messaging and interactions specific to the VAN, members are encouraged to also communicate through the FSU Veterans Alliance LinkedIn group, which also includes veterans who are Florida State University students, employees, partners and supporters.
Challenge Coin Exclusively Available to Veteran Alumni
Only veterans and active military personnel who are alumni of Florida State may request one Legacy challenge coin by contacting Alumni Relations Coordinator Kathleen Harvey Helm at the Student Veterans Center at (850) 645-9867 or kharvey@fsu.edu. Please provide Kathleen with copies of documents verifying your military service (a redacted LES or DD214), your major at Florida State, and the year your graduated. (Documents other than an LES or DD214 will be accepted on a case-by-case basis.)
Public Challenge Coin For Sale
For the general public, Garnet and Gold has available for purchase the Alliance challenge coin, a two-inch solid metal coin with "1947" on one side, which salutes the year veterans returned Florida State to coeducation, and the Veterans Alliance arrowhead on the other. A portion of the proceeds from Alliance coin sales supports veterans at FSU.
Veterans Alliance Arrowhead Merchandise
Garnet and Gold is the exclusive seller of a line of Veterans Alliance arrowhead merchandise, and a portion of the proceeds from the sale of this merchandise supports veterans at FSU. The Veterans Alliance arrowhead is the proud symbol of Florida State's university-wide commitment to become a national beacon of veteran support and success.
Alliance Blend from Grassroots Coffee
Grassroots Coffee Roasters has developed a special Alliance Blend that can be bought online, and a portion of the proceeds from the sale of this coffee blend supports veterans at Florida State.
