1947 Program
SUSTAIN the Veterans Alliance by signing on to THE 1947 PROGRAM
After World War II, an enormous number of veterans pursued college degrees through the GI Bill of that era. This demand prompted the Florida legislature to convert the Florida State College for Women to coeducational Florida State University. In other words, veterans were instrumental to the founding of our distinguished university!
For as little as $19.47 per month, you can help maintain Florida State’s nationally recognized level of student-veteran support – as well as its proud veterans heritage – at an amount that salutes the year that forever changed Florida State’s student body.
support of FSU veteran/military students Can also be provided through DONATIONS TO THE GENERAL FUND
Veterans Center General Fund • Resources and activities across the entire spectrum of the Florida State Veterans Alliance are supported through the general fund, which also contributes to:
Student Veteran Emergency Fund • Exclusively for FSU student veterans whose personal financial situation has become dire, emergency funds are allocated judiciously and confidentially at the discretion of the Student Veterans Center director. Past recipients have conveyed that without this support, their college careers almost certainly would have ended.
Veterans Legacy Complex • Designed to house the university’s Student Veterans Center, ROTC programs, and World War II Institute, the Veterans Legacy Complex will elevate Florida State’s and the State of Florida's reputation as the most veteran friendly in the nation.
Legislative funding finances the planning and construction of this project while donor support – including designated gifts, sponsorships, and naming rights – will enhance and elevate its functionality and aesthetics.
